According to regulatory documents filed by Vizio last year in preparation for an IPO, Wang owned 54.4 percent of Vizio--or, $1.088 billion. There are also a number of other executives with major stakes in Vizio who are probably now multi-millionaires, thanks to the acquisition by Chinese television maker LeEco. The funding was led by Capital Zed, and also included ROAR, Paradigm Talent Agency, Europlay Capital Advisors, MSMCi, and Ace Fund, along with angels Alex Welch, Michael Tedesco, Chris Varelas and Ivan Brockman. The startup, led by Ryan Detert, says it helps marketers reach more than 7,000 top influencers on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Vine and YouTube, using artificial intelligence technology from IBM Watson. The company says it has now raised a total of $9M. Upthere, which says it has created a new "operating system" to help users keep, find, and share their files, photos, videos, music, and more, said it raised $77M in funding, led by KPCB and Western Digital, and also included Elevation Partners, Floodgate, GV, NTT Docomo Ventures, and Square 1 Bank. According to eHarmony, it has named Grant Langston as its new CEO. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Wpromote says it has hired on senior management and more than 70 employees from Standing Dog, which will help boost the company's annual run rate to $35M this year. Standing Dog was founded in 2005, and was based in Texas. Wproimte is led by Michael Mothner, and provides integrated search, mobile, and social marketing to such brands as Toyota, Bayer HealthCare, Verizon, Sungard, and many others. The company said the buy will boost the total number of employees at Wpromote to 250. Demand Media Names Marketing VP ---- Los Angeles-based Demand Media said today that it has named Matt Gehring as the company's new Vice President of Marketing. Gehring was most recently VP of Marketing for Touch of Modern, and previously served at Provide Commerce, Marchex, Classmates.com and Musicmatch.
