Google, Google said on Monday. Financial terms of the acquisition were
not disclosed. Google said it will continue to make Orbitera available

received a year ago from Resolute Ventures. The company was founded by
Marcin Kurc. The deal is reportedly north of $100M.

Aligned TeleHealth Gets $12M
----
Calabasas-based Aligned TeleHealth, a provider of telemedicine
services, said this morning that it has raised $12M in a Series A
funding round. The funding came from SV Life Sciences (SVLS). The
company said the funding will go towards acquisition, business
development, recruitment, and towards its technology infrastructure.
Michael Baluth and Gene Hill, both of SVLS, have joined Aligned
TeleHealth's board of directors. Aligned TeleHealth offers up its
telemedecine services--including psychiatric specialty physician
consultations--to acute-care hospitals, emergency rooms, skilled
nursing facilities, and correctional institutions. The startup is led
by Nitin Nanda, M.D.

Woven Digital Inks Deal With Coors Light On New Series
----
Los Angeles-based digital media company Woven Digital says it has
inked a partnership with Coors Light, to launch a new series on its
UPROXX site, called "HUMAN LIMITS". Woven Digital said the new series
will "exploration of our limitations as human beings and the stories
of those individuals who have defied them." Financial details of the
partnership were not announced. The company said the new series is
aimed at millennials. The new series is a follow up to an earlier
series, called HUMAN, which was sponsored by Coors Banquet. Woven
Digital is venture backed by WPP Ventures, Institutional Venture
Partners and Advancit Capital, along with others.

----
Los Angeles-based myDevices, which develops a software platform aimed
at developers of connected devices, said it has integrated its
software with the popular Arduino open source software and hardware
project. (More...)

Semtech Sale Of IP To Rambus Completes
----
Camarillo-based Semtech has completed a deal to sell of a bundle of IP
assets to Rambus, in a sale that was worth $32M, Rambus said Monday
afternoon. The deal, announced in June, included's Semtech's Snowbush
IP business, which primarily included SerDes (serial/deserialization)
cores used in ASICs, Systems-on-a-chip (SoC), and other platforms.
Rambus said that the assets become part of its Memory and Interfaces
Division.

Tongal Names Strategy Head
----
Santa Monica-based Tongal, which operates an online, content
crowdsourcing site focused on video, has named a Vaughan Emsley as its
new Head of Strategy and Client Development. Emsley was most recently
at Saatchi & Saatchi, where he was oversaw the ad agency's Procter &
Gamble account, and worked on ads for such brands as Tide, Olay,
Pampers, Head & Shoulders and Ariel. Tongal helps brands create
videos, tapping a network of writers, animators, filmmakers, and
others to help create digital marketing campaigns, TV commercials,
social advertising, and other content. The company has driven
campaigns for LEGO, Johnson & Johnson, NASA, Mattel, P&G, General
Motors and many others. Tongal is venture backed by Insight Venture
Partners and led by Rob Salvatore.

EDF Renewable Energy Sends In Big Wind Turbine Order
----
San Diego-based EDF Renewable Energy, the big renewable energy
developer, says it has placed a big wind turbine order with Vestas,
for 160 megawatts of turbines for future wind projects in the United
States. Financial details of that order were not announced. EDF
Renewable Energy said that since 2013, it has installed more than 2 GW
of wind turbines from Vestas throughout the U.S. The company says it
now has more than 8 gigawatts of wind, solar, storage, biomass and
biogas projects developed throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Hulu Ends Free Streaming Service
----
Not--it's not a mistake, that "Start Your Free Trial" button on the
home page of Los Angeles-based television streaming service Hulu marks
the end of Hulu's free streaming, as the company moves 100 percent
into the world of subscription video. Hulu--instead of offering up
free, but commercial-laden TVs and movies--now requires users to
either subscribe to a "limited commercial" service for $7.99 a month,
or a "no commercial" service for $11.99 a month. Hulu had already been
moving towards subscriptions--having severely limited the free titles
available on the service--but had been offering up at least a taste of
its broader menu of content to new users.

August 10, Irvine -- Will Crowdfunding Be In Your Company’s Future? OC Tech
Alliance. With the SEC approving recent rules for Crowdfunding, more
startup companies are now being able to take advantage of this capital
formation pathway. However the benefits of this relatively new funding
source may be outweighed by the challenges of regulatory and other
obstacles that exist. In addition, while the advent of Crowdfunding may
well find a welcome home in business plans throughout the U.S, this new
capital formation pathway needs to be balanced with safeguards to prevent
fraud and protect the investing public. Thankfully, newer (and
crowd-based) tools to monitor online reputations are emerging. Either
way, the potential to unleash untold numbers of new ventures is certainly
exciting for would-be entrepreneurs. In this presentation, we will be
discussing the how to’s of Crowdfunding and a look into the future when
Crowdfunding can be utilized to offer equity. See

August 24, San Diego -- 5G: WHAT IS IT AND WHY DO WE NEED
IT? Commnexus. Automobile business
mogul Henry Ford is noted as saying, “If I had asked people what they
wanted, they would have said faster horses.” The purest sense of original
innovation is creating value before customers even see it, or understand
it. Consumers understand 5G is better than 4G, but what does that mean?
Lifestyle today is dependent upon reliable high-speed networks; there are
currently 6.4 billion connected devices in the world. The future will
bring about a society where life itself will be dependent on reliable
high-speed networks. 5G is the future. Connected cars operating with 5G’s
ultra-low latency are expected to utilize V2V (vehicle to vehicle)
communication, reducing car accidents and saving lives. Projected download
speed of 5G is 5 Gbps to 10 Gbps. However, 5G is much more than an increase
in network speed; it’s a significant increase in network capacity which
will catapult the IoT/IoE revolution, transforming the way we live.. See
