Size of the investment was not announced. Newegg said that it will use the new funding for its strategic initiatives, including international expansion, broadened product offerings, and expansion into areas such as eSports, virtual reality, and augmented reality. According to ViaSat, the department will be bringing new, tiered Wi-Fi service to railway passengers traveling the 174 mile route between Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina. Financial details of the deal were not announced. ViaSat said its broadband services will be used for a Wi-Fi plan which includes a basic "Bronze" level, along with a "Silver" and "Gold" plan with higher speeds and additional streaming media options. ViaSat had already been providing a basic Wi-Fi service to the NCDOT's trains. Report: Unilever Eyes The Honest Company ---- Is another, Los Angeles consumer startup--The Honest Company--about to be acquired by Unilever? An unconfirmed report Thursday afternoon, from TechCrunch, says that Unilever is in early talks to acquire the company, founded by Jessica Alba and SoCal serial entrepreneur Brian Lee. If true, an acquisition would be the second by the company of a high profile, Los Angeles startup this year, after the acquisition of Santa Monica's Dollar Shave Club by Unilever--for a billion dollars--in May. The company, led by Jed Simon, helps companies who have a long accounts payable cycle--such as online publishers and mobile app developers--cover working capital needs. FastPay ays that so far, it has originated nearly $1.5 billion in loans, and now has more than 70 employees.
