Those revenues were not announced by Activision in the announcement. Activision said Call of Duty is the number one grossing console franchise in the U.S. for the eighth consecutive year, including all of its Call of Duty titles. TurboTax Aims New Product At The Self Employed ---- Intuit, which develops its popular TurboTax tax filing software in San Diego, said this week that it has launched a new product called TurboTax Self-Employed, a new tax filing product specificaly aimed at what the company says are 55 million self-employed individuals in the U.S. The new product is bundled with QuickBooks Self-Employed, the company's accounting software for the self-employed market. The company said it is aiming the new product at full- and part-time freelancers, independent contractors and on-demand workers, who it says have grown from around six percent of the workforce in 1989, to 36 percent today. The company said access to the software is free, with Federal filing costs currently at $89.99. http://www.socaltech.com/turbotax_aims_new_product_at_the_self_employed/s-0068453.html EDF Renewable Energy Partners On 186 Megawatt Solar Project ---- San Diego-based solar and clean energy project developer EDF Renewable Energy said Thursday that it has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to tap into a 186 megawatt power project being build in Riverside County. According to the company, the agreement is with non-profit public electricity provider MCE. EDF Renwable Energy said the Desert Harvest Solar Project, being build on approximately 1,200 acres of land managed by the US Bureau of Land Management in Riverside County, is expected to begin delivering electricity in 2020. The project is expected to produce enough energy to meet the needs of 73,000 average California homes. Financial details of the PPA and project were not announced. GumGum Analyzes Sports Teams Sponsorships, Advertising ---- Santa Monica-based GumGum has launched a new effort to apply its technology to analyze sports sponsorships and advertising. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. Both companies had worked together on the titles Skylanders Battlecast and Clan Wars for Call of Duty. As part of thea cquisition, Grue CEO John Linden becomes President of the combined company, with Trey Watkins heading up Grue's former develompent team. Seismic's co-founders are Greg Borrud and Eric Gewirtz. Borrud was formerly head of Pandemic Studios, the gaming firm acquired by Electronic Arts in 2007 for $860M. Seismic says is now has over 50 employees in Los Angeles in two different offices. ZEFR Hires Two For Executive Team ---- Venice, California-based ZEFR, which develops software to identify, filter, and organize content for brands and content owners on YouTube and other online video sites, said today that it has hired two new executives to its senior team. The company said it has named Anne Hallock as Executive Vice President, Head of Marketing, and Brian Atwood as Executive Vice President, head of Global Sales. Hallock was previously at The Trade Desk, and was the company's first dedicated marketing hire before its IPO; Hallock also has worked at Clorox Company.
