Alteryx Names Snags Marketing, Sales Execs From LifeLock, Tableau
----
Irvine-based data analytics software developer Alteryx said yesterday
that it has named Seth Greenberg as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), and
Scott Jones as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). The company, which is
backed by Iconiq Capital, Insight Venture Partners, and Meritech
Capital Partners, said that Greenberg joins from LifeLock, where he
also was CMO; he also has served at Intuit, serving as Vice President
of Intuit QuickBooks. Jones was previously Senior Vice President of
America Sales at Tableau Software, and also served at SAP and
E.piphany.

Qualcomm Launches $3 Billion Joint Venture With TDK
----
San Diego-based Qualcomm and TDK Corporation announced Friday morning
that they have launched a joint venture, RF360 Holdings Singapore PTE.
Ltd., to provide RF front-end (RFFE) modules and RF filters for the
mobile device, automotive, and Internet-of-Things (IoT) market.
Qualcomm and TDK said the deal to create the new joint venture is
worth approximately $3 billion dollars. RF360 Holdings will be a
Singapore corporation, with headquarters in Munich, Germany, and R&D
and manufacturing and/or sales locations in Europe and Asia.  Qualcomm
Global Trading PTE. Ltd, a subsidiary of Qualcomm, will own 51 percent
of the new JV; 49 percent will be owned by EPCOS AG.

Nimble Connects Into Outlook On iOS
----
Santa Monica-based customer relationship management (CRM) tool
developer Nimble has wired up its tool to Microsoft Outlook on iOS,
the company said on Thursday. The company's software provides detailed
information and views on a user's contacts, including links to social
profiles, work experience, and much more. Nimble said the new add-in
for Outlook on iOS is avaliable to all Office 365 commercial users;
users will need a Nimble Business account to use the add-in. Nimble
Business accounts cost $25 per user per month.

SteelHouse Names New Bizdev VP
----
Culver City-based online advertising software developer SteelHouse
said this  week that it has named Natalie Serota as its new VP, Head
of Business Development. Serota was most recently at Omaze, where she
was VP, Head of Partnerships & Events, and also served at Google and
Omnicom, and according to the firm has over a decade in senior sales
roles. Steelhouse provides its software to brands, helping them with
retargeting and prospecting campaigns through display, mobile, and
social channels.

FloQast Names Sales VP, Opens New Office In Ohio
----
Los Angeles-based FloQast, which develops financial close management
software, said this week that it has named Todd Ellwood as Vice
President of Sales, and opened a new office in Columbus, Ohio.
According to the firm, Ellwood will head the new office. Ellwood
previously was at Dell, and also served as Vice President of Sales for
Quest Software, and also was at Aelita Software, Sterling Commerce,
Information Dimensions, and AT&T Information Systems. FloQast is
venture backed by Amplify.LA, Polaris Partners and Toba Capital.

TakeLessons Rolls Out New Service, TakeLessons Live
----
San Diego-based TakeLessons, which operates an online marketplaceto
connect users with instructors in such areas as singing, piano,
guitar, Spanish, and other areas, said this week that it has launched
a new service called TakeLessons Live. The new service provides
unlimited, live online group classes, via a monthly subscription. The
company did not release pricing, but said the cost provides 200 online
lessons a month, for less than 10 cents a class. TakeLessons said the
move will provide live instruction to more people. The company's
marketplace still connects users with individual instructors for
private instruction, both in person and online. The company is led by
CEO Steven Cox.

Snap Went From 600 to 1,859 Employees In One Year
----
Among the massive trove of information in Venice, California-based
Snap Inc.'s IPO filing on Thursday is the tidbit that the company more
than tripled its number of employees in the last year, going from 600
full time employees on December 31, 2015, to 1,859 as of December 31,

Snap Files For IPO

Venice, California-based Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat,
has filed for its much anticipated IPO, saying in a filing late
Thursday that it is looking to raise up to $3.0 billion in an IPO
offering on the New York Stock Exchange, under the symbol SNAP.

MSC Software Acquired For $834M
----
Newport Beach-based CAD/CAM software developer MSC Software is being
acquired by Stockholm, Switzerland-based Hexagon AB, in a deal worth
$834M, Hexagon announced Thursday morning. MSC Software develops
computer-aided engineering (CAE) software, including simulation
software for virtual product and manufacturing process development.
Hexagon said that MSC has over 1200 employees spread across 20
countries. MSC Software had been owned by private equity investors
Elliott Associates and Symphony Technology Group, and the company had
been looking for a buyer since at least early January.

Snapchat, R/GA Partner For New Startup Accelerator
----
Venice, California-based Snap Inc., the parent firm behind Snapchat,
has joined up with R/GA Marketing--which helps run the Dodgers
Accelerator in Los Angeles--to launched a new startup accelerator, the
R/GA Marketing Tech Venture Studio with IPG. The new accelerator says
it will invest $120,000 in funding in comapnies in the accelerator for
up to 6 percent equity, with a 100 day program to be held at R/GA's
New York offices. The new effort is focused on growth-stage and
early-stage startups, with an emphasis on improving the reation and
delivery of mobile advertising.
