----

led by Elon Musk, is planning a torrid launch pace--hoping to send up

Rubicon Project, Integral Ad Science Partner On Viewability Scores
----
Los Angeles-based online ad marketplace operator Rubicon Project and
Integral Ad Science (IAS) said on Monday that the two are in a new
partnership, where they will be providing third-party viewability
scores for display and video advertising. Financial details of the

media buyers to make better informed pricing decisions for individual
ad placements.

Soraa Deploys In UK Museum
----
Soraa, the developer of Gallium Nitride (GaN) LED lighting technology,
based on research out of UC Santa Barbara, has deployed its products
at a museum in the United Kingdom. Soraa said its lighting systems are
now being used at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England, which the
company says is the world's oldest public museum. Soraa's LED lighting
systems are being used to replace what had been a halogen powered
light generator system. Soraa says its LED technology provides the
widest range of colors that humans can see, but without ultraviolet or
infrared radiation, which can damage objects under display. Soraa was
founded by UCSB Professor Shuji Nakamura, who developed the first blue
LED.

VIZIO: We're Now Setting The Standard For Privacy Practices
----
Irvine-based VIZIO said Monday that it is now working forward to set
the "standard for best industry privacy practices", after an agreement
with the Federal Trade Commission and the New Jersey Division of
Consumer Affairs, where it paid $2.2M to settle charges it was
collecting consumer information without permission. According to
VIZIO, even before the agreement, it had been addressing the concerns
by updating online and onscreen disclosures related to the automated
collection of information about content viewed on its smart
televisions. VIZIO said the resolution concludes all pending
government investigations into its privacy practices.

QAD Gets Nod From Honda For Use By Suppliers
----
Santa Barbara-based QAD said this morning that its QAD Automation
Solutions software has received Honda "Approved Software" status.
According to QAD, Honda North America requires all of its original
equipment manufactured parts suppliers to use an authorized integrated
electronic data interchange (EDI), barcode and demand management
solution. QAD says its software now meets those standards.

SpaceX, Scopely, Snap Among Those Opposing Immigration Move
----
Three, Southern California technology companies--SpaceX, Scopely, and
Snap Inc.--are among more than 120 companies who have filed an "amicus
brief" opposing the recent Presidential order on immigration.. The
three join a long list of well known tech companies--including Google,
Microsoft, Netflix, and many others--who say the Trump order "inflicts
significant harm on American business, innovation, and growth" and
"makes it more difficult and expensive for U.S. companies to recruit,
hire, and retain some of the world's best employees."

VIZIO Pays $2.2M to Settle FTC Charges
----
Irvine-based Vizio, the manufacturer of televisions and other consumer
electronics, has been ordered to pay $2.2 million to the FTC and the
State of New Jersey, to settle charges that it has been collecting the
viewing history of its customers without their consent. The charges
had been filed by the Federal Trade Commission and the Office of the
New Jersey Attorney General in 2015. The FTC said the order also
requires VIZIO to "prominently disclose and obtain affirmative express
consent" for its data collection.

February 15, San Diego -- CASE STUDY: FuelRod -- Mobile Charging on the
Go. MIT Enterprise Forum San Diego. One company is rethinking the world of
mobile power through rechargeable batteries; in a way you might not expect.
Chi Yau and Joe Yeagley are the developers behind FuelRod, a rechargeable
mobile battery charger which is changing the travel experience. With
backgrounds in innovative energy storage technology, Yau and Yeagley
recognized the need for added battery power on-the-go and saw an
opportunity in the rechargeable battery market for the introduction of
charger swaps. See http://www.socaltech.com/calendar/eventid/25588

February 25, Pasadena -- Caltech Entrepreneurs Forum - Entertainment.
Southern California is still the home of Hollywood -- the symbolic name
for the motion picture industry, but that industry has changed
dramatically in recent years. Many of the studios have sizable in-house
technology development operations, but all acquire technology or
technology products from outside their corporate borders. The program is
designed to help would be developers and sellers of new movie-related
technologies navigate among the giants, learn what areas might provide
opportunities, and avoid areas where scale and other industry
characteristics render it unlikely that a startup will make inroads. See
