SpaceX Dragon Battling Docking Issues
----
The recently launched SpaceX Dragon is running into some issues with
docking with the International Space Station, according to NASA, which
said early this morning that the rendezvous and docking of the
spacecraft was aborted this morning after "incorrect value in data" on

Report: Disney Buys MakieLab
----
MakieLab, the custom, 3D printed doll startup which had been part of
Disney's second Disney Startup Accelerator program, has been acquired,
reportedly by Disney itself. Full details of the acquisition and buyer
were not officially announced, however, MakieLab said that it has been
acquired by a "a fantastic US media behemoth". MakieLab had a deal
with Disney to ship custom, 3D printed dolls featuring such characters
as Star Darlings, Minnie Mouse, Maleficient, and others; the company's
CEO, Alice Taylor, had relocated to Los Angeles as a result of the
time at Disney's Burbank accelerator.

Chrome River Launches New Hotel Expense Handling Feature

Los Angeles-based Chrome River, which develops cloud-based expense and
invoice automation software, has extended its software to handle hotel

Qualcomm Gets Infotainment Systems Design Win With Peugeot
----
San Diego-based Qualcomm Technologies announced this morning, along
with European automotive giant PSA Group, that PSA will integrate
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 Automotive (820A) processor in a new line of
vehicles. Financial impact of the win was not announced. The two said
that Qualcomm's processor will start appearing in PSA's vehicles
beginning in 2020. PSA Group owns the Peugeot, Citroen and DS brands.

Global Eagle Entertainment Loses CEO, CFO
----
Los Angeles-based Global Eagle Entertainment, which provides
in-flight, satellite-based Internet services for airlines, has named a
new CEO, after the loss of both its CEO and CFO on Monday. (More...)

Glaukos Sets New Chief Medical Officer
----
San Clemente-based Glaukos Corporation, which is developing medical
technology for the treatment of glaucoma, saysi t has named L. Jay
Katz, MD, FACS, as its new Chief Medical Officer. The company said
that Katz is a practicing ophthalmologist, the Director of Glaucoma
Service at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and a Professor of
Ophthalmology at Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson
University. The company said Katz was a former medical monitor for its
various clinical trials.

Skurt Snags $10M For On Demand Car Rentals
----
Los Angeles-based Skurt, which operates a service that delivers a car
to you on-demand when you need it for the day, and then retrieves it
when you are done, has raised $10M in a funding round, the company
disclosed on Tuesday. The funding was led by Upfront Ventures, and
also included BMW, Cross Culture Ventures, Expansion VC, Greycroft
Partners, and Magic Johnson. Skurt's app runs on iOS and Android. The
company is tapping into underutilized vehicle fleet operators for its
vehicles, and operates its own network of drivers to deliver and pick
up those vehicles to renters.

Burner Launches Hostbot To Help Airbnb Hosts Field Text Messages

Los Angeles-based Burner, the startup which lets users easily create
their own "burner" phone numbers from a mobile app, has launched a new
"bot" specifically geared at helping Airbnb hosts manage the flood of

Snap IPO Attracts Interest Of Non-Tech Wealth Managers, Service Providers

The upcoming IPO of Venice-based Snap, the parent company of Snapchat,
is spurring a lot of local real estate agents, money managers, and
luxury goods retailers excited to get a piece of the action, according

Media Temple Swizzles WordPress Hosting Plans
----
Los Angeles-based cloud hosting provider Media Temple has swizzled the
arrangement of its managed WordPress offerings, saying today that it
haas boosted solid state storage, added new content delivery network
(CDN) delivery, and added other extra features and functionality to
its plans. The company said its new Personal Pro, Elite, and a new
Extended plan increases SSD storage from 30GB to 50GB for its
Personal, and increases its Pro plan from 100GB to 200GB of SSD. The
company is also now bundling SiteLock's TrueSpeed CDN services at no
additional cost for its Elite plan.

Jukin Media In Content Partnership With Japanese MCN On New Site
----
Culver City-based Jukin Media, which licenses and distributes viral,
user-generated content for the TV, web, and other platforms, has inked
a new content deal with Japanese MCN UUUM, the two announced this
morning. According to Jukin, it is partnering with UUUM to create a
new, UGC-based social video brand tailored for Japanese audiences.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The company said
they will launch a site called Video Pizza, specifically aimed at
Japanese audiences, and which will include Japanese talent and be
produced specifically for Japanese viewers.  Jukin Media said UUUM
sees more than 2 billion monthly view in Japan alone, and was founded
by Japanese YouTuber Hikakin.
