SpaceX called off the launch of its Falcon 9 carrying the EchoStar XIII at 10:36 P.M. PST. The launch this time is from Launch Complex 39A at NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida. SpaceX's next launch window is on Thursday, at 10:35 P.M. PST. http://www.socaltech.com/spacex_delays_echostar_satellite_launch/s-0069561.html JetPack Aviation Links With Georgia Tech ---- Van Nuys-based JetPack Aviation, a developer of commercially available "jet packs" for sending people into the air, said today that it has signed an agreement with Georgia Tech Research Institute. According to the company, the two will merge JetPack's technology with a similar subsystem bilt by Georgia Tech, to address military applications. JetPack did not details terms of the agreement with Georgia Tech, but said the two will jointly solicit R&D funding from the U.S. military. JetPack Aviation also said it is seeking new investors in the company; the company has been crowdfunding its efforts via StartEngine. The company so far has raised a little over $173,000 out of $1M it is seeking on the StartEngine platform. Ixia Wins Barefoot Networks ---- Calabasas-based Ixia reports a win with Barefoot Networks this morning, saying that the network equipment maker has chosen its 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) test products. Barefoot Networks is using Ixia's equipment for testing its Tofino switches. Financial impact of the customer win was not announced. Ixia said Barefoot is using its equipment to recreate real-life network traffic patterns and load to make sure their switches can perform and scale as designed. Flyr Launches Interactive Video Sharing App With $5M In Funding ---- Los Angeles-based Flyr, a new startup founded by Hassan Uriostegui and Brett O'Brien, the serial entrepreneur behind Viddy and Xdrive, said today that it has launched a new app which lets users create interactive, shareable videos. The startup--which says it is backed by $5M in angel funding--says its app algorithmically generates videos using photos, videos, and GIFs, in only seconds. The company says it expects its IPO price to be between $12.00 and $14.00 per share. The company has filed to trade as AXY on the New York Stock Exchange. The IPO is being underwritten by Goldman, Sachs & Co., J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, Pacific Crest Securities, William Blair & Company, JMP Securities, Raymond James & Associates, and Cowen and Company.
