The deal was reportely worth less than $1M. Ctrl Me Robotics was founded by Simon Saito Nielsen. http://www.socaltech.com/report_snap_acquires_drone_maker_ctrl_me_robotics/s-0070579.html Arcturus Therapeutics Gets $3M From Cystic Fibrosis Foundation ---- San Diego-based Arcturus Therapeutics, a developer of mRNA-based treatments for disease, has signed a deal to receive up to $3M in funding from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics, a nonprofit which supports drug discovery and development. The company said the $3M will go to advance LUNAR-CF, a novel messenger RNA (mRNA) therapeutic formulated with Arcturus' drug delivery technology. Arcturus said the effort will support discovery and development of mRNA therapeutics that aim to enable cells of CF patients to restore the function of their cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator, or CFTR, gene in their lungs. Microsemi Connects To Amazon Alexa ---- Aliso Viejo-based semiconductor developer Microsemi has connected its hardware to Amazon's Alexa voice recognition service, with a new product, the company announced this morning. (More...) http://www.socaltech.com/microsemi_connects_to_amazon_alexa/s-0070577.html Masimo Gets FDA Clearance On Pediatric Product ---- Irvine-based medical device maker Masimo announced this morning that it has received FDA 510(k) clearance on its O3 Regional Oximetry sensor for pediatric patients. Masimo's product is used to measure the amount of oxygen in the brain, and uses near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) to continuously monitor absolute and trended regional tissue oxygen saturation (rSO2) in the cerebral region. The company said the product is now available for pediatric patients weighing more than 5 kg (11 lbs) and less than 40 kg (88 lbs). Inseego Names New Board Member ---- San Diego-based Inseego, the company formerly known as Novatel Wireless, said this morning that it has added Jeffrey M. Tuder as a new, independent director at the company. Tuder is an investment executive and previously has served at such public equity and hedge funds as JHL Capital Group, KSA MidOcean, and Tremson Capital Management. He also has served at Fortress Investment Group, Nassau Capital (Princeton University's Endowment), ABS Capital Partners, and CapitalSource Finance. Tuder also is on the board of MRV Communications and is an advisor to Clique. Inseego is in the midst of a protracted effort to sell its Novatel Wireless business to a Chinese buyer, an effort which has been stymied in regulatory review. Watch SpaceX's Falcon Heavy Side Booster In Test Firing ---- Hawthorne-based SpaceX showed off a static fire test on a side booster rocket for its Falcon Heavy last week, saying that theFalcon Heavy will be using a booster that launched its Thaicom 8 mission into space. The agreement comes after an arbitration decision made on April 12th. According to BlackBerry, Qualcomm will pay the full amount of the final award on or before May 31, 2017. The payment comes as a result of overpayments by BlackBerry between 2010 and 2015.
