SpyCloud said this morning that it has raised $2.5M in a seed funding from Silverton Partners and March Capital Partners. The investment is one of several in the cybersecurity space for March Capital Partners, including investments in Crowdstrike and E8. According to the LACI, the new effort is being funded with a $5M grant from the California Energy Commission, and will support new technologies and entrepreneurs in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties. The LACI said the new program will help connect entrepreneurs with mentors, help companies with testing and prototyping failities, workshops and training, referrals for flexible office spae, and more. http://www.socaltech.com/la_cleantech_incubator_gets__m_for_new_program/s-0070619.html ViaSat Plans Satellite Launch Today ---- Carlsbad-based ViaSat said this morning that it is planning to launch a new satellite, the ViaSat-2 satellite, from Guiana today. The company said its satellite is scheduled for launch at 4:45 p.m. PDT. ViaSat's new Ka-band satellite will provide broadband services across North America, Central America, the Caribbean and a portion of northern South America, as well as the primary aeronautical and maritime routes across the Atlantic Ocean between North America and Europe. The satellite is being launched on an Arianespace Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle. Zenlayer Gets $10M For Software Defined Networking ---- Diamond Bar-based Zenlayer, a provider of software defined network and services, announced on Wednesday that it has raised $10M in a Series A funding round. The funding was led by F&G Venture, and also included NSFOCUS and other investors. Zenlayer, which is led by CEO and founder Joe Zhu, said the funding will to towards accelerating development of its platform and expanding its base of data centers, and in particular, towards hiring. The company said it offers up bare metal cloud, SD-WAN and edge computing services to its customers. In a tweet, Musk said he has "done all I can to advise directly to POTUS" on climate change, and "don't know which way Paris will go". Musk had joined a controversial council formed by the Presidential administration to ostensibly "share their specific experience and knowledge" with the President. Musk has been a convincing advocate for efforts to battle climate change. Trump has previously called climate change a "Chinese hoax". Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Optimal Blue is owned by private equity investor GTCR. Comergence Compliance develops software used by lenders for third party oversight and verification, social media compliance reporting, licensing checks, and other related areas. SuperMoney Launches Search Engine For Loans ---- Santa Ana-based SuperMoney has recently launched a new, online search engine for loans, looking to replicate the success of online search and aggregation sites like Kayak and LendingTree. According to the company, led by CEO Miron Lulic, it helps consumers find online loans, helping users compare different loan offers based on basic information such as loan amount, credit score estimate, employment status, and more. Gamevice Grabs $12.5M To Turn Your iPhone Into A Game Console ---- Los Angeles-based Gamevice, a developer of hardware devices which attach to your existing smartphone which turns them into a gaming console, has raised $12.5M in a Series A funding round, the company said Wednesday morning. The funding was co-led by TransLink Capital and California Technology Ventures (CTV), and also included BAM Ventures, TYLT Ventures, and Kevin Chou, the former CEO of Kabam. As part of the funding, Chou joins the company's board. Phillip Hyun is the CEO of Gamevice.
