San Diego-based last mile transportation startup Wheels, which offers up
on-demand bicycles, has raised $50M in a new round of funding, the company
said today. The funding was led by DBL Partners. The startup competes
against Bird, Lime, Lyft, JUMP and others in the last mile transportation
and on-demand market, but differentiates itself by offering up electric
powered bicycles, rather than scooters, to its users. According to the

Irvine-based AutoGravity, which offers up purchasing and financing tools
for auto dealers and consumers, has launched its very own,
subscription-based, "flexible car usage" service it is calling Turn, the

Irvine-based content moderation software developer WebPurify says it has
enhanced its tools with a new tool, which allows its users to automatically
detect text in memes and other images in blogs, forums, social media apps,
children's sites, in-game chats, and more. According to the company, its
new Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Profanity Filter Service is aimed
at combating offensive user generated content in real time, through

Santa Barbara-based property management software developer Yardi is
expanding its Yardi Senior Living Suite software, to add a new tool for
managing Medicaid billing for senior living providers, the company
announced this morning. According to Yardi, its new Yardi Claims Manager
help senior living providers with navigating the complexities of Medicaid

The founder of Los Angeles-based electric car company Faraday Future,
Yueting Jia, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy--in a move which will also
move Yueting Jia's equity ownership in Faraday Future into a trust for his
creditors. According to Faraday Future, the move "will not affect" any of
the company's normal business operations. Farady said the move will provide
Yueting Jia with personal debts, and also help Faraday Future with its
equity finance efforts and to "prepare for an IPO". (More...

Pelion Venture Partners, a venture capital firm based in Salt Lake City,
Utah, is expanding its efforts into Southern California, and has named Jeff
Kearl as Managing Director in the region for the firm. Pelion has made

others. Kearl was most recently CEO of Stance, an online clothing retailer.
