Los Angeles-based Snappt, a proptech startup which provides fraud
protection for property managers, announced this morning that it has raised
$100M in a Series A funding round. The funding came from Insight Partners.
According to Snappt, it helps property managers accurately screen tenant
applications and detect when financial documentation, such as pay stubs and
bank statements, have been fraudulently altered. Daniel Berlind is the CEO

San Diego-based Eclipsebio, a startup developing RNA genomics technology,
aid this morning that it has raised $14M in a Series A financing round. The
funding was co-led by Alexandria Venture Investments and iGlobe, and also
included Photon Venture Alpha and Phoenix Venture Partners. As part of the
funding, Hallie Kuhn, Ph.D., of Alexandria Ventures has joined the
company's board. The company said the funding goes towards its RNA genomics

*Genies Gets Investment From Disney's Iger*

Los Angeles-based NFT avatar company Genies has scored an investment from
former Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger, Iger said on Monday. According to Iger, he
has joined the board of Genies as part of the move. Financial details of
the investment were not announced. Genies develops "avatar" software for
the metaverse, which allows celebrities and other people to add
accessories, clothing, and other embellishments to those avatars via

*Molecular Assemblies Gains $25.8M For DNA Synthesis*

San Diego-based Molecular Assemblies, a company developing enzymatic DNA
synthesis technology, announced this morning that it has raised $25.8M in
its Series B financing round. The funding included Casdin Capital, plus
Agilent Technologies, iSelect Fund, Codexis, LYFE Capital, and Argonautic
Ventures. The company said the funding will go to advance its proprietary
enzymatic DNA syntehsis technology, including early commercialization and a

Orange County-based *UBIX <https://www.ubix.com>*, a developer of analytics
software, said on Monday that it has named former Alteryx President Scott
Jones to the company's board of advisors. Jones is currently CEO of data
analytics software provider Incorta, and had been President of Alteryx
through the company's IPO. According to UBIX, Jones grew Alteryx from $75M
in revenues to more than $450M over four years UBIX says it develops a

Irvine-based electric car maker Rivian Automotive said on Monday that it
has hired Frank Klein as the company's new Chief Operating Officer.
Klein--who was most recently at automotive manufacturer Magna Steyr--will
not start at the company until June 1st. According to Rivian, Klein will be
based at its factory in Normal, Illinois. Klein replaces former Chief
Operations Officer Rod Copes, who left the company last year. Klein also

*Foxconn, With Operations In LA, Shuts Factories In Shenzhen*

Electronic manufacturing giant Foxconn--which has a major operation in Los
Angeles, in the form of Belkin--has shut down its manufacturing operations
in Shenzhen, China, as a new COVID-19 outbreak has occurred in China. It's
unclear how that shutdown will impact shipment of products at Belkin.
