*Qualcomm Sues Former Engineer For IP Theft*

San Diego-based Qualcomm has sued one of its former engineers, saying that
he stole the company's intellectual property by taking screenshots of
sensitive documents. The lawsuit claims that Guarav Kathuria stole trade
secrets after taking a job at another high tech company. Kathuria was most
recently a Senior Software Engineering Manager at Qualcomm in San Diego. (

*Rolebot Rounds Up $4.5M For Diverse Recruiting*

Los Angeles-based Rolebot, which develops artificial intelligence powered
software for recruiting diverse talent, says it has raised $4.5M in a
funding round. The funding came from Data Point Capital, Uncorrelated
Ventures, Jason Calacanis, and the LAUNCH fund. According to Rolebot, it
helps companies find the "most promising talent" requiring no job
descriptions, no resumes, and no job postings to help companies exceed

*Miso Robotics Signs Up Chipotle For Tortilla Chip Test*

Los Angeles-based robot developer Miso Robotics has scored a high profile
with with fast casual chain Chipotle, which said this morning that it is
testing a version of Miso's kitchen robot, called "Chippy". According to
Chipotle, it will pilot the use of "Chippy" at its innovation hub in
Irvine, with plans to integrate the robot into a restaurant somewhere in
Southern California later. Financial details of the win were not announced.

Subscription home repair insurance startup *Super
<https://www.hellosuper.com>* announced this morning that it is expanding
into Southern California, and has started to provide its plans in the
Greater Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County and the Inland Empire. The
insure-tech startup, based in San Francisco, says it offers up
subscription, home repair coverage for appliance and system breakdowns,

Irvine-based artificial intelligence and biotech startup GATC Health says
that the former Chief Architect of eBay has joined the company as a
strategic advisor. According to GATC Health, Mark Palaima will support the
company in strategic planning and partnerships. The company said Palaima
has more than 35 years of leadership, and spent a decade building and

Los Angeles-based Snappt, a proptech startup which provides fraud
protection for property managers, announced this morning that it has raised
$100M in a Series A funding round. The funding came from Insight Partners.
According to Snappt, it helps property managers accurately screen tenant
applications and detect when financial documentation, such as pay stubs and
