Los Angeles-based Pomerium, which says it has created a secure, clientless
way to control web applications without a corporate VPN, says it has raised
$13.75M in a Series A funding round. The funding was led by Benchmark, and
also included Bain Capital, Haystack, SNR, and Oleg Rogynskyy, founder of
People.AI. The company said that Benchmark's Eric Vishria will join the
company's board as part of the funding. Pomerium's CEO and founder is Bobby

Santa Ana-based Kinetic, a startup which provides maintenance and servicing
for electric vehicles and vehicles with advanced driver assistance systems,
says it has raised $21M in a Series B funding round. The funding was led by
Menlo Ventures, and also included Lux Capital, Construct Capital and
Haystack Ventures plus new investors Allstate Strategic Ventures and
Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures. The company said funding will go towards

*Additional Fisker Entities Go Into Chapter 11*

Los Angeles-based Fisker Automotive said on Wednesday that Fisker Inc. and
its other U.S. subsidiaries have entered into Chapter 11, following the
Chapter 11 filing of parent company Fisker Group Inc. on Monday. According

*Liquid Instruments Raises $12M*

San Diego- and Canberra, Australia-based Liquid Instruments said Wednesday
that it has raised $12M in a funding round. The funding was led by
Breakthrough Victoria, and also included Lockheed Martin Ventures, Acorn
Capital, and Powerhouse Ventures. The company said $10M of the round came
from Breakthrough. According to the company, it will use the funding to
"significantly expand" its manufacturing operations in Australia, establish

*Roddenberry Foundation Launches $1M Early-Stage AI Prize*

The Roddenberry Foundation said on Tuesday that it has launched a $1M prize
aimed at early-stage ventures that use artificial intelligence (AI) to
benefit humanity. According to the foundation, the prize is named after
Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek. The foundation said the prize
"embodies the Roddenberry philosophy's promise of a future in which
technology and human ingenuity enable everyone—regardless of background—to

*Divergent Technologies Names Chief Strategy Officer*

Los Angeles-based Divergent Technologies, a developer of a digital
manufacturing system, says it has named a new Chief Strategy Officer for
Aerospace and Defense. Divergent said that Nathan Diller--a retired United
States Air Force Colonel--has been named to the position. Divergent said
Diller most recently served on the staff of the U.S. House of

*Fisker Recalls Oceans For Software Issues*

Los Angeles-based electric car maker Fisker Inc. has recalled the Fisker
Ocean, as part of two, voluntary recalls for software related issues.
According to Fisker, it is recalling a total of 11,201 Fisker Oceans across
the U.S., Canada, and Europe, due to an issue which can lead to "a loss of
motor power". The company said it will provide and over-the-air update for
the issue, which affects the vehicles' Motor Control Unit (MCU) and Vehicle

Torrance-based space robotics startup *GITAI USA <https://gitai.tech>* said
it has been selected for a NASA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
Phase 1 program. According to the company, it has been selected for a
project, titled "Assembly and Outfitting of Tall Truss-Based Power Towers",
which it says is aimed at building tall truss-based towers on the Moon

*Stanly Snags $8M For Fan Engagement*

Los Angeles-based Stanly, a startup which says it is developing a platform
for "fans to connect, engage, and celebrate their favorite fandoms", has
raised $8M in a pre-Series A funding, the company announced this morning.
The company said the funding was led by C Capital (Adrian Cheng), along
with AppWorks, Goodwater, Palm Drive Capital, and others. The company said
its founders are Rebecca Leung, Liberty City Ventures, and Popular Culture.

"AI-powered cat litter box", which it says it is working on developing. The
