Gary,
Without even going into the technical specs and difficulties; consider
this; you are now going to send your signal out 1 mi. from 'Starbucks', say.
No problemo! Maybe need higher BW like try 38Mhz ( not unlicensed or maybe
we can mix unlicensed and licensed ) anyway we have no problem with
interference, police, fire or marine band...I don't think public services
will mind if we tweak into their airspace? Maybe we can go 3 miles, well
yea! but that is a managed solution...you got to watch these things. They
don't watch themsleves! Also you could just buy spectrum now and what do you
care who develops the technology if you own the airwaves. Like Sprint and T
and MCI. This is coffee logic ( Starbucks). No grueling technicalities like
failing the RFP at the IEEE for WiMAX. Just garage type tinkering. Like the
'sinkerator' I mean I think 'Waste King' was real engineering, innovation,
downright friggin' genius and lots of bucks to prove it!
I think Solar Sails is even the best thing since white bread! Why COSMOS
I !! Yup, its a great idear, it works great! Just hang out those shingles
and let the sun shine in!!...only well the friggin' booster rocket thingy
got stuck in the jampit of the differential torque dorker...well it will
work once we get the thing into Outer Space!....Meanwhile back on Earth....

Gary,
My hunch is that Wimax deployment will be complimentary for many years
until
the point of market saturation,
at which time the big boys will start going after your customers and try
to
put you out of business or buy you and/or other WISPS.

Hello,
I'd like any opinions on the affect that WIMAX will have on current WIFI
implementations. That is: what affect do you think the big companies
like
Sprint, that are already rolling out "pre Wimax" infrastructure, going to
have on WISPs or others that have built WiFi infrastructures for hotels,
RV
parks, etc?
Do you see it merely as a compliment or is there some downside for those
of
us that are selling and managing Wireless solutions?
And do you see current WiFi deployments as necessary or at all importnat
to
these compainies that are about to deploy WIMAX?
Best,
Gary
