So "dual-radio designs are quite cost prohibitive" - I guess that's true
if you compare the cost of dual-radio nodes to Tropos single-radio nodes
AND if you completely IGNORE the cost of the 5 GHz point-to-multipoint
wireless networks that are typically used to provide backhauling to
every third or fourth Tropos node. Of course, if you include the cost of
this 5 GHz (typically Motorola Canopy) backhaul network, then you can no
longer make the claim that a Tropos network is "cheaper". If you
calculate the cost of the ENTIRE network, including the 5 GHz backhaul,
I think anyone who "does the math" will find that the typical Tropos
deployment is MORE EXPENSIVE than a deployment that uses dual-radio
dual-band mesh nodes.

How strange but I can find NO information about Tropos offering a
dual-band node ANYWHERE on their web site. Perhaps you could be so kind
as to supply a link?

Thanks,
