China, Ministry of Information Industry recently revealed that China
would expand the scale and number of its RFID pilots in the near
future. In addition to Qingdao, which has RFID pilots covered six
areas: Logistics Management, Production Management, Container
Management in port, Vehicle Management, Tire Manufacturing and Sale
Management; Beijing, Shanhai, Tianjing, Shenzhen, Dalian, Chendu,
Najing and other cities will participate to start RFID pilots.

RFID Improves Operational Efficiency Rapidly

"Ministry of Information Industry is making great effort to promote
RFID applications in cities holding Olympic events, such Beijing and
Tianjing." Officials in the ministry told reporters. 2008 Olympic Game
will adopt RFID technology to fight against counterfeit, inspecting
electronic tickets contactlessly. Another major RFID application is
for vehicle management. For example, affixing a RFID tag in front of
every bus rapid transit (BRT) to record the status of certain bus,
traffic polices then adjust the time period of green light base on
traffic conditions. It says the introduction of RFID improve
operational efficiency by 60%, alleviating the traffic jam greatly.

More and more RFID applications are adopting these days, Wal-Mart
required products shipping from its suppliers must be tagged to reduce
labor costs and eliminate manual errors; Pepsi Cola planned to
manufacture 33 billion wireless tracking labels before 2010. According
to marketing research company In??Stat, the total mount of RFID
products in 2010 will be 25 times more than that of 2005, reaches 33
billion dollar.

RFID in National Identity Card

The vice-director general of Radio Administration Bureau Mr. FeiBo Xie
said, with the vigorous development of Golden Card Project and IC card
applications, RFID technology have already been applied in actual
cases in China. Ministry of Public Security has already issued 370
million new national identity cards, which contain RFID chips. By the
end of 2008, it estimates 900 million new ID cards will be in use.

With the increasing number of mobile communication applications,
integrate RFID in mobile phone will eventually become a trend.
Japanese telecommunication operator NTTDoCoMo provides e-wallet
service with RFID cell phone; South Korea SK uses RFID cell phone to
authenticate ginseng products by reading RFID tags. Telecommunication
operators in China also start to invest to develop three-in-one cell
phone: Communication, Identification and Electronic Payment
