I took a shot and got a Siemens Speedstream 2630 DSL/Wireless Router for $40
from TigerDirect - a bargain!

The plan was to hook it up to this old ADSL FlowPoint I have from
InternetConnect.net eventually Covad.net (dip switches!) and finally get a home
WLAN on the air so I could use my Titanium PowerBook around the house, out by
the pool, etc.

The SpeedStream was directly reachable and configurable over the air via a web
GUI built into the router, and the hook up seemed to be easy.

Hours and hours later, nada. I finally found a buddy on IRC who downloaded
both the SpeedStream and FlowPoint PDFs and walked me through hours of
config and test, config and test, until we found the issue.

Both products (Siemens products as it turns out!) use the same range of
IP numbers as the default subnet, making DHCP, etc., a nightmare.
Once we figured that out it was easy to reset the numbers on the Siemens and we
were good to go.

I hate to see the average Joe trying to do this.
