Great question Chris. I had the same thought as I was wardriving one night:
I had XMMS going (WinAmp-like streaming audio program for Linux)
and was listening to Virgin Radio from the UK, and then
Somafm.com and thought: "This is such a cool alternative to Sirius and XM Radio.
How can I make this work in my car without interruptions as I switch APs?"
In an area with enough coverage by open APs, this could work.
Another cool app would be a portable Ipod-like audio device that could also transition between APs as it streamed audio from Internet Radio stations....I'm sure I'm not the first to think this (re: your post).
