Tim,

This issue was discussed a fair amount in the wireless ISP community over
the last year of so. A google search may turn up some of these discussions.
You could also browse the archives of the isp-wireless site.

To really get the answer, you would need to deploy a 4-channel system and
then test it while heavily-loaded. Only then will you be able to prove or disprove
either point of view. Of course, at that point, you will have a bunch of unhappy
end-users who have just experienced their system slowing down unacceptably.

My suggestion is to go with a 3-channel system or else get a disclaimer in
your contract with your client so they don't blame (and or sue) you when
the system performance deteriorates.
