More info, seems the Carson project is a private build out, with fed
funding/backing. I am also of the understanding that this is not the
only development project between private/fed integrators, and the
business case is; draw computers and users into economic developing
areas to boost growth.

Interesting about Hermosa and Cerritos- Hermosa more so because of the
local funding.

Subject: RE: [SOCALWUG] WiFi Coverage Area in Carson City, NV.. and
more?

There is a project in Cerritos, but my understanding is that it's a
private
enterprise building it. We had the Hermosa Beach Mayor at a past
SOCALWUG
meeting, we were told that the city was funding that project. He did not
mention Federal funding.

BTW, on the front page of the Business Section in today's LA Times is an
article about WiFi and it's affects on government policy. There is a
photo
of a Tropos outdoor mesh device.

I have not heard of a project for Carson City. But city supported WiFi
seems
to be the popular thing to do these days.

I've heard stories of Federal matching grants, but I don't know any
details.
