Which iBook do you have? If its the older G3 version you can run Kismac or even Kismet, if you have X11 installed. The iBook G4 uses the Extreme card and it is not supported yet by some of the tools out their.
I have a iBook 700/G3 and love it. The reception on a iBook is the best of any of the Apple laptops. The only thing that I have thought about trying is attaching a USB wifi adaptor attached to the dash and seeing if it will extend the range. Has anyone tried this or given it any thought? I figure a WET11 with a 200mw card should work. As long as the software such as iStumbler, Kismac or MacStumbler support USB.
