Uh... I was the CTO & VP of engineering at Wayport. I ran the development of our own "HPNA" switch. (12-96 ports of HPNA on a managed switch backbone, plus the in-room electronics). They called it "Everywire" (say it with a Texas drawl.)

I can tell you a LOT about HPNA, or I could, if the massive quantities of alcohol and anti-depressants hadn't robbed me of all remaining grey matter.

If the bundles are 'full' of HPNA, you can get some significant NEXT, which will result in loops, lockups, etc. We did quite a bit of work with tuning the tx power out of the PHY, which solved the install problems in about 90% of the cases.

Wasn't universal. xDSL (esp VDSL) is a better solution, because of the duplex channel (one freq for tx, another for rx).

For 48 units, you'll probably get away with it.

p.s. wasn't this a "wireless" group?

I am working on putting together an internet access system for a new 48 unit apartment building. Does anyone have experience in deploying an HPNA system in a 40+ Multi-Unit environment? Also does anyone have POTS wiring experience for same type environment? I am looking for an easy reliable solution that I can duplicate in similar buildings with as low a cost as possible to do the job right with security and reliability of service the prime objection. Also easy off site management. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
