A quote from the DWP to me (about a year and a half ago) was $1,500/month
for a 100Mbit point to point connection. Assuming businesses will begin
getting involved, that cost is not unreasonable. You could go directly
from the valley to the Little Tokyo NAN via DWP's fiber. And they do offer
lower amounts of bandwidth for less money. The possibility also exists
that an incumbant wireless ISP would provide a sponsorship connection into
the Valley. Just have to ask around.

I asked for LPBN when we needed bandwidth and two ISPs donated more than
enough bandwidth for free. Avi at Over the Net actually has made LPBN
possible because we would not have had enough bandwidth to do the larger
events that eventually allowed us to becomw a recognized organization.
Cyberverse in Torrance also has helped with the bandwidth. They are not
wireless ISPs but I imagine there are wireless ISPs that will help.

Many people know the social importance of community based networks and
information distribution. The one sidedness of the media, power and
finances is very apparent. By communicating with each other things are
less likely to become out of balance. Society becomes safer, lively,
creative and healing by sharing educational resources and communications.
Some wireless ISP owners are not to be excluded from those that want to
make things better.
