You can tunnel your connections using Secure Shell or use a VPN. On my laptops I tunnel my email through SSH since I don't use WEP on my own Access Points. Also, if you are using a banking service or shopping, the wen site should use SSL encryption and this will protect you if your wireless network is not encrypted.
