Red Herring online reports on the efforts of Cisco, Nethope, IBM, the WCA, and the Post-Tsunami Reconnect project to re-establish communications in the regions wiped out by the tsunami. Telephone lines, power cables, and data cables have been destroyed all across the region. In the article, Clint Roswell from IBM Global Services said, "Because of the devastation we'll have to do a lot of this wirelessly. When you start from zero, the most manageable way is through a wireless infrastructure."
