For the tinkerer, another interesting Linksys firmware is OpenWRT[1]. It is a tiny Linux distribution based on Debian that runs on your WRT54g, with its own little package manager and a library of prepared packages like a DNS server, name server, etc. Mine is running a name server, an iptables firewall, and logging statistics for entertainment value[2]. But, if you're not down with hacking on Linux, then the Sveasoft firmware is a much more polished package that includes all the features you're most likely to want.
