All:

a) Is there a good web browser for windows, that does run at 50 - 75%
CPU most of the time. Preferably one that doesn't think a page should
be reloaded every 10 seconds.[I configured Firefox to _never_ refresh
a page, is still insists on doing so.}

b] Is there anyway to configure windows, so that splash screen are
never displayed. [I can do it for some individual programs, but I'd
prefer to never see a splash screen for any program again.]

c] Is there a way to prevent a program that is opening, or just
opened, from jumping to the front screen. I want things to open, and
stay in the background, until I am ready for them.

I know that the second and third are solvable by using *Nix, or *BSD. That is not a current option for me.

I use mozilla 1.7.5 in preference to firefox. It's only anecdotal but it seems better to me even it is a bit bigger download. But then I like the suite idea rather than the individual pieces.
