Sometimes I refers to uno Norte Americano de los Estados Unidos as a Statesider - but then I've also been known to refer to inhabitantes de Paris as Parisites, particularly when the topic of the Rainbow Warrior and New Caledonia/Kanaky came up. ;)
Statesider I see as an analog formation to Sydneysider referring to denizens of Sydney, NSW.

It would be amusing to "port" Yankee to the world's orthographies - I already know Yanqui from Spanish, French and Portuguese - I assume it's Janchi in Italian?
"J" isn't used in modern Italian. I found a "Ianchii" or two on the web.
