Daniel: Would you be able to help me? You are a mathematician, how are your drawing geometry skills?
I would like to carve, need to lay out first, on a round stick some designs. The first being a rope wreath. The diameter of the stick varies, the width of the wreath or turkshead knot is not fixed, neither is the number of twists. But how to lay it out so that it looks good. It looks like a rope twist, an odd number of twists, 5, 7 or 9. Just goes around the stick. The second is a twist down the stick, so that the stick looks like it is a rope or a brandy wine twist. This is usually 3 but would like to make 5 as well. Now I can divide the circumference into 2, 4, 8 or 16 parts but not 3,5,6 or 7 parts equally. I am trying to make some walking sticks for some people who may need the assistance. Chimo, Chris
