Hi Pedro - thanks for this link. I actually did some work in using with Jabber PEP (sub part of PubSub spec) to get OpenMicroblogging style posts (and Twitter style) using simple Atom entry fragments - sending Atom feeds as well as receiving them. That post mentions PubSub, but not PEP explicitly so not sure if it uses it.
Doing more on it just now, but it works really nicely and is well supported by Openfire etc. Some thoughts around how to get twitter or jaiku style web views of the notifications as they aren't explicitly "friends" but there are ways around it. I hadn't seen your link so that is very useful!
