I am distressed by Michael's decision to leave, and regret that he has been offended. And contrary to his suggestion that I "replied in a parable", I don't believe that I have replied at all until now.  My excuse is that I have been preoccupied for several weeks with my personal health and with catching up on many years of neglecting my personal administration and lack attention to what little claims I have on the "social wealth" (and hence of my responsibilities to family, who generally resent the time I spend in treading intellectual water).  Furthermore, I have been trying to bring a degree of closure on activities of a related kind that have taken a lot of my time in recent years.  (I copied Michael on some of that, without explanation, and assume he interpreted it as a parable. In fact, it was more in the line of explaining my reputation as resident Calvinist.)

Consequently, I have not been paying close attention to everything that comes through from this list, and that applies especially to about half or more of the items that come through under Bill Ryan's name.  That is because I find them so cryptic that I can't tell what the devil he is on about without a major effort of going back through the archive to find out who has made the mistake he is correcting.  I was thinking of making a grumble of that kind, especially since I will be going into hospital next week for seven hours of surgery plus seven days of confinement and a lengthy rehabilitation (if the doctors don't kill me).  I was going to ask that Bill make sure to provide ample recognizable context for his replies, so that when I am able to get back to the screen at least (I'll be losing function in my right arm for several weeks--only, I hope) I'll be able to understand what has gone on in my absence.

Following Michael's distress call, I now suspect that many of the most baffling of those cryptic comments may have been due to there being either no initial label to reply to (Michael often did not make one) or that Bill invented one to go with his jab of the moment.  I think if there were just a little bit more effort on his part to assure a "thread label" for each item posted, it would certainly help my problem of following the discourse and I would have been much more aware of where the jabs were landing.

Subject: [SOCIAL CREDIT] farewell

Dear Friends,

In reply to my concerns about the behavior of our host, only Jessop, Chick, and Rodney stepped up to the plate.  (Rodney's comment was intercepted by Ryan and did not appear on the list.)  Joe replied privately, and Keith replied in a parable.  Ryan's own comment was as insulting as ever.  Vic and Wally were prudently silent.  This is not going to be sufficient to bring about any change.

It is a pity that a group discussing social credit and the cultural heritage fails to recognize good manners as part of the cultural heritage and condones, on the part of its host, manners that are disgusting to Christian and humanist alike.  Such manners are poison.  How can you expect to advance in wisdom in social credit while condoning them?  Anyone can see there is something seriously wrong with this picture.  By not taking this matter seriously, you are doing a disservice to the social credit movement and hobbling this forum.  Therefore, I find myself compelled to flee.

It's really a pity, because I think this forum has great possibilities, but only if peer pressure is brought to bear to insist on decency.  If Ryan won't take a badly needed lesson in humility, the forum can go on without him.  You don't need him at all.

I will be unsubscribing as soon as this message goes through, but you all know where to find me, and I have your addresses also.  You can always write to me or copy me anything you wish, and I will certainly respond.

Finally, I remind everyone that Triumph of the Past is published every month, and the e-edition is free for the asking.
