ಶ್ರೀ ಗಿರೀಶ್ ರವರೆ,
ಬಹುತೇಕರು (ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು, ಇತರೆ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ನೌಕರರೂ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ) ಖಾಸಗಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ
ಸೇರಿಸಲು ಇರುವ ಪ್ರಬಲ ಕಾರಣವೆಂದರೆ ಆಂಗ್ಲಮಾಧ್ಯಮ. ಇವತ್ತಿಗೂ ಈ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್
ಭಾಷೆ ಬಲ್ಲವರಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಗೌರವ ಸಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ. ಖಾಸಗಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಗಳಿಗಂತೂ
ಉಳಿದೆಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನ ಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅರ್ಹತೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ
ಹೇಗೂ ಪರಿಸರದ ಭಾಷೆಯಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಕಲಿತೇ ಕಲಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಿತರೆ
ಏನಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ಸಾಧಿಸಬಹುದೆಂಬ ಭ್ರಮೆ ಪೋಷಕರಿಗಿದೆ.
ಅಲ್ಲದೇ ತಾವು ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಕಲಿಯದೆ ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದ ಮುಜಗರದ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ
ಬಾರದಿರಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪೋಷಕರು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕೆಲವು ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್
ಮಾಧ್ಯಮವಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಪರಿಸರ ಪೋಷಕರನ್ನು ಆಕರ್ಷಿಸಲು ವಿಪಲವಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಈಗ
ಆಂಗ್ಲಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವಂತಾದರೆ ಆಗ
ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಮೇಲುಗೈ ಸಾಧಿಸುತ್ತವೆ ಅಥವಾ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ
ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ತೆರೆದು, ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ
ನೇಮಕವಾದರೆ ಈ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗೆ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಸಿಕ್ಕೀತು. ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಖಲಾತಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚೀತು.
ಎಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮಿಗಿಲಾಗಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರೂ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ದೊರೆತಾಯಿತಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯ
ಭಾವನೆ ತೊರೆದು ಆಸಕ್ತಯಿಂದ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
