While its true the web site still refers to a May ship date etc, dont
take that as indicative of their product quality. We have been using
Soekris boxes for some time now, with well over 200 deployed. I
would say its the most reliable piece of hardware we have used in the
past 12yrs of our business. I would feel comfortable deploying half
way around to world any of their products.
I am hard pressed to recall anything that was DOA, or just failed
without any explanation. Of the 8 or 9 that were cooked, it was due
to lightning strikes to the buildings that took out other gear as
well. Really, they are great products in our experience. I am
hopeful the 55xx series will be as good.
