Hi The connector on both the net550x and on the back of your computer is a male connector. You need a female to female cable to connect the two. Since you are going same to same it needs to be a cross over cable. Pin 5 goes to pin 5. Pin 2 goes to pin 3 on the other end. It will also work just fine with a full null modem cable.
