I'm testing a 5501 with a Hitachi E7K100 IDE laptop drive, connected
using the cable from a 4801 and temporary (cardboard) mounting
hardware. I'm not using USB, CF, PCI or Mini-PCI cards.

I've installed FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE via TFTP and FTP using the
excellent notes at http://www.ultradesic.com. I then csup'ed to
RELENG_6.2 and successfully ran a 'make world' in approx 6 hours.
All smooth and quiet.

Only problem seen so far is that the net5501 cannot see the hard disk
after a reboot. That is, you need to hit the reset switch or power-
cycle the unit in order to be able to boot from the hard disk.
Otherwise, the machine reboots but the BIOS does not see the hard
disk. Is this a known issue?

PSU is a 12 Volt 1.2 Amp unit from an old Ethernet switch.

The boot-up messages and BIos SHOW parameters are as follows. (NB the
line "Pri Mas HTE721010G9AT00 LBA Xlt 1024-255-63
97 Gbyte" does not appear after a reboot.)

Thanks for any pointers!

- Martin.
