I've recently installed 7 net4826 boards running the LocustWorld mesh
distribution.  4 of them are still running fine without any problems
using PoE to power the board (and 1 compact flash WiFi card).

After about 2 weeks of use 1 unit stopped powering up, 2 weeks after
that 2 more units failed.

I've tried several different PoE injectors for various vendors
(Proxim, Cisco, Generic) without success.  If I power the broken units
via the DC-in connector, they work fine.

I don't think the PoE injectors are identifying the board as a PoE
compliant device anymore, and never supply voltage but I don't know
how to prove this.

My initial thought was (it seems to be a recurring problem on the
list) that the boards were simply not getting enough power - but in
the case of the Cisco Injector I can plug the DC transformer brick
directly into the Soekris board (via DC-in) and it will work.  When I
use the same DC transformer brick through the PoE injector it doesn't
work.

At this point, I'm wondering if anyone has heard of frying the PoE
ability of the net4826?  Anyone have any ideas for more tests?

If all else fails, I'll use passive PoE equipment and shunt the power
off to the DC-in connector - but I figured I'd ask the experts first
:).
