802.3af mode A (inline on 12 36) and B (midspan injection on alternate
pairs 45 78). Are both covered by 802.3af...

what isn't  covered is injecting 12-24vdc down 26awg cat-5. the voltage
drop is too severe at 100base-t supported distances, and if you pull
sufficient current you cause a fire.
