you should be fine unless radio interference to you or your near neighbours is an issue.. The on board power supply on the 4801 is a bit on an EMC pig. I found that the soekris case did not help much either until the metal at all contact points (including the Ethernet ports) had been cleaned down to bare metal. I also needed to use some EMC copper foil tape at some joints because there is not a tight fitting metal to metal join at all seams. I am a Radio amateur and I use the NET 4801 as an NTP server, In my case, with antennas mounted over 20m away from the house and fed with buried coax I found trash from the 4801 from around 100Khz up to at least 50 Mhz. It is possible to make the 4801 behave from an EMC perspective but it's much nosier than mikrotik boards which are generally fine once they are mounted on a metal backplate with all mounting holes used. None of the above may matter in your setup be please be aware of potential issues with nearby radio users since interference generated at your location may extend beyond your property PHK. Have you had any issues with your plywood mounted boards in relation to your monitoring of LF time stations / Loran ? -- 73 Brendan EI6IZ _______________________________________________ Soekris-tech mailing list [email protected] http://lists.soekris.com/mailman/listinfo/soekris-tech
