Agreed, from my point of view there is absolutely no need to do anything else 
than a standard install. I currently have a 5501 and when I did that install I 
set up /var on mfs and rsync to flash periodically. A while after I set up that 
there was a discussion about flash disks on misc@ and the conclusion was 
basically to do a standard install with no extras.
