non-functional (by testing from my FreeBSD system that I run on the
net4801).
I imagine that this is so because both serial ports would be provided
by the same chip.
It seems that my only solution is to replace the fried chip.

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that console access is only
available on the first serial port.
