Thanks for the feedback on that.  I had no idea if that image would work for 
other Soekris hardware or not, and couldn't test it (without spending money, 
that is!).

And now I'm wondering -- where does it freeze?  Do you get the "ready" prompt, 
then a freeze?  Or just the "loading initrd.gz" and a freeze?

The reason I'm asking is because it may not be a console speed issue at all.  
It's possible it could be a hardware issue with initrd and the system net4521.
