I typically take base49.tgz, etc49.tgz, etc... and unpack them into a directory 
tar xzpf (and run flashrd against that directory.)

I wouldn't run flashrd against an installed system unless you wanted to clone 
that system.

I would simply run it against a directory with an unpacked snapshot (As 
recommended by the faq/directions)
