Hello Soren,

Sorry about being late to this coversation, just found it.

I have talked to Exar and even tracked down a DS1710.

Not only is the price over $300, isn't it driver compatable with the 7955
(used in your beloved 14x1 cards) but the 82xx doesn't even perform the same
functions so
It wouldn't work for this task (Confirmed by Exar themselves).
 
I think you would get demand for a 15x1 VPN card since you would be the
"only game in town" for a VPN accelleration card for the PCI-E/Mini PCI-e.
