Particularly this thread, and others over the last month have justified my caution in not rushing to buy yet.
I have learned: 1. Forget about any Soekris design of case. I do know how difficult it is to puzzle out how to cool various components, sometimes the difficult part is not putting in lots of holes, then the cooling air has to pass over the really hot components on it's way out through the really essential exits. 2. Forget about the 6501 until the hardware problems are sorted, and the promised BIOS improvements actually ship. I have been reminded 3. That Power Supplies are the most neglected and the most hard-working part of a system. If you don't use the best components you can get your hands on - you will be sorry. Unusually for electronic components, power supply capacitors have a life span - they wear out. So I treat all Power Supplies with suspicion, not just the Soekris ones. Again and again I have come across optimistically specified Power Supplies.
