Hi Lonnie,

I'm using the temperature reported in the BIOS after leaving the
system running under a normal workload for about an hour, and then
immediately rebooting into the BIOS to record the results. I have
found very random results with using software packages under
FreeBSD/pfsense, and Linux.

I'm using the Jetway NF99FL-525 dual core 1.8Ghz board with an add on
3 port NIC card. It was very well supported by pfsense, but in
retrospect is a bit much CPU for what I need.

I have two similar fans, and a very open 1U rack mount case with lots
of holes all around as well. Exit temperature from the fans is around
40 C with the fans running full at about 6000 RPM. Board temps are as
I posted earlier, even with powerd running and scaling back the CPU
speed.

Based on my ambient temp of about 22 C, I should be seeing around 62 C
then, but I'm only able to maintain that if I have the fans running
full out, which generates a decent amount of noise even with the quiet
aspect of the fans. Without any fans, or at full CPU load, the temp
easily gets to 85-90C.

That's good to know. I have a 1.6Ghz Atom netbook that generates very
little heat, and was hoping for the same on the net6501.

I think I'll go forward with some net6501 purchases to replace these boxes.
