I did see that.

But you can use the Viking as a layer-2 device, setting up your PPPoE
session from the host computer, thereby shielding the IP stack in the
Viking from the interweb. That's exactly how I used to use it (and how
I'm using my ISP's VDSL2 modem which is also capable of being a router)

Taking the OP's words literally: you are right that the Viking can act
as a router (which might disqualify it) but it doesn't have to be (which
might make it acceptable). I thought I'd leave that up to the OP's judgment.
