Hi,

it's been a while that I'm trying to get sofia working on my pc.
I've tried with both fedora core 4 and core 5 but nothing seems to work.
Sofia Stack Sip compiles correctly, so I've tried to compile gst
plugin for gaim and everything seems to work fine (e.g. i can chat via
Sofia SIP) but when I try to set up a voip call, after sending the
invite, the called gaim crashes.

see my other reply today - I think you have the same exact problems.

I today made a quick attempt at making a new media implementation that only requires base GStreamer plugins. You lose some functionality (RTCP support, symmetric RTP and jitterbuffering), but should make life easier for people that are testing the stack.

So anyone with FC5 (or similar system with gstreamer-0.10), download the curret sofsip-cli darcs and see whether you can make a simple call:

sh> darcs get http://sofia-sip.org/repos/sofsip-cli/

I've also tried to compile sofia_cli and it compiles correctly but
when I write the command:
sofsip_cli --media-impl=gstreamer sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
it always shows:
** Message: Selecting media implementation: dummy
does anyone know what it means?

Try with the above snapshot. And see the new README that briefly explains the different media implementations available:

Could you tell me the right packages that I've to use? (doesn't matter
that they are for fedora core 4 or 5) and, if you can, where I can
find them.

For sofsip-cli-0.8 reqs, see
http://sofia-sip.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/twiki-bin/view/SofiaSIP/SofSipCli

I have one more question: with sofsip_cli it's possible to establish a
call according to RFC3312? I saw that sofia SIP is compliant to that
RFC, but i don't know if it's possible to do this that via sofsip_cli
or I have to write my own client.

You'll have to modify the code, or write your own. But we do have documentation available, see

http://sofia-sip.sourceforge.net/refdocs/nua/nua_event_diagrams.html

.. and the section '3GPP Call Model'.
