Ok thanks. Either there's some interoperability problem between xlite and the gstreamer RTP codecs, or some other issue.

But if you did hear couple of secs of audio, that would imply that the codecs are ok, and there is something wrong with the audio playback. Now this unfortunately isbit out of our hands as we are relying on gstreamer for all media operations.

Could yuo check the version of gst-plugins-base package? For example on Debian, 'dpkg -s gstreamer-plugins-base' or on rpm-based systems, 'rpm -qi gstreamer-plugins-base', or if these don't work 'pkg-config gstreamer-base-0.10 --modversion'

I've had similar problems as you describe (audio playback stopping after few secs), and for me, downgrading gst-plugins-base solved the problem.
