Do we have to be sorry?

Well, Brecsia was the home of the man who some 'experts' think made one of my
violins. I don't. I believe it was a copy made in the early c.19 in the Black
Forest of southern Germany! It still sounds good, and costs me a lot less in
insurance!

Wine, fiddles, SDR? They are all products of old pan-European technological
traditions which we should value. We should also value modern traditions.
Over this festive season I have opened bottles of excellent wine from
northern Italy, from Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, Hungary, and
France. I would have had some wine from Wales (we do make a small quantity of
fine wines here...) Cornwall and England, but due to work pressures I was too
late to buy any... My son, also an RF engineer, contributed some remarkably
fine Spanish Cava when he came to visit us.

What I'm really trying to say is that Europe - in it's widest sense - has been
responsible not only for fine musical instruments, and wines, but a great
deal of the intellectual basis of this list. We shouldn't be aggressive about
this, though. One of my great heroes is Bose, the c.19 Indian physicist, who
was developing millimetre wave apparatus in 1890!

Let's use the fellowship of our common hobby to bring us closer together,
despite our many differences. Can I wish you in the language (Cymraeg) of
Wales, the country in which I choose to live:

A Good New Year
